The Probation Service in cooperation with the Education Directorate Durres has launched the pilot project " The implementation of best practices " , in view of the application of methods and guidance as appropriate educational and vocational training for juveniles in custody .
In this framework it has been developed on Wednesday dated 28 May 2014 , a workshop with representatives of elementary , middle and high schools in Durres . The roundtable was held in cooperation with the OSCE presence in Albania and this initiative is estimated by the Head of the State Department of Law and Human Rights Ms . Fiorentina Azizi .
The project aims to promote public safety through orientation of sentenced juveniles to education ,in order to increase prosocial behaviors of convicted adolescents for a successful reintegration into the community .
Long-term impact of this project is identified with increased public safety and reintegration of minors in social life .
Immediate impacts of the project on individuals is identified with improving the lives of minors , reducing antisocial behavior and stimulate prosocial behavior . Juvenile participation in psychological counseling sessions with the school psychologist , besides the learning process will invoke empathy as an important factor in reducing criminal behavior .
The General Directorate of Probation in collaboration with the Education Directorate Berat , will begin within the month of June 2014 , a similar pilot project in the district of Berat.
